As the holiday season approaches, people are anxious to begin decorating their homes with wreaths, garlands, ornaments, lights, and of course, the stars of the show – Christmas trees. Some people put them up as soon as Thanksgiving is over, while others start once the family is complete. Did you know that there are some cultures that have a designated date on when they put up Christmas trees?
According to traditional beliefs, Catholics do not decorate their homes or set up their tree until the afternoon of Christmas Eve. This was to celebrate the feast as it comes, rather than earlier because it may lose its essence as the anticipation draws on. If you plan to celebrate Christmas this way, it is advised that you pick from a selection of artificial trees, so you do not end up with a sad-looking tree come Christmas Eve!
Since artificial Christmas trees do not require maintenance like a real tree, you may put it up at the beginning of November. No matter when you decide to start decorating, the important thing is to make it a family activity that everyone can enjoy.
