Projects We Love: Curbly’s Painted Striped Curtain Makeover

September 6th, 2013

In my continuing search to find new ways to spruce up my home, I came across a wonderful blogger who provided a fun and easy way on how to turn boring drapes into fun, whimsical curtains.

Charlotte Smith (Ciburbanity) of the DIY design community Curbly offers an easy DIY project that allows décor enthusiasts to paint stripes onto their plain curtains or any large piece of fabric in seven quick steps. It’s so easy that I wanted to find my unused and ordinary cloths and work on them right away.

What I particularly love about this project is that it’s an affordable way to add character to my home. With only a few materials and a couple of old items lying in storage around the house, I can infuse into my space a splash of color, breathing a new atmosphere into any room. What’s even more wonderful is that I can finally match my curtains with my other décor pieces, creating a fresh décor scheme that the entire family will love.

Curtains with colored stripes

There are so many possibilities with this delightful project! I can paint different colored stripes and even a chevron pattern. Stenciled curtains are also a great idea! This DIY project is also perfect for the change of seasons since I can easily use colors that complement the weather. For holidays and parties, I can paint a tablecloth instead to give the occasion an extra colorful boost.

Try out this nifty little project in your home and bring a new and pleasant charm into your living spaces.
