Home Spruce Up: Bathroom Revamp

October 7th, 2013

Our bathrooms are an essential part of our homes, and we want them to be nice and presentable when guests arrive. But why wait for guests to come over before you spruce up your bathroom? Update this part of the house with these fun and simple bathroom spruce-up ideas!

For this month’s Home Spruce Up series, we’ll talk about how you can turn your bathroom into a sweet-smelling, revamped space with just a few touch-ups.

Open up Your Storage

The bathroom is where we usually have unmentionables (cleaning agents, anyone?), so it might seem counterintuitive to have open shelving in this space. However, open shelves make your space look fresh and more spacious than it really is.

To perk up your bathroom, display the items you don’t normally take out of storage, such as extra towels and rolls of toilet paper (don’t worry, your cleaning agents can stay behind closed cabinets). Show off your bath products on cake trays or in baskets to keep them accessible and in only one area of the counter.

Bring in Some Plant Life

Another valuable bathroom decorating idea is to use plants. Place a pot of plants or a vase of flowers by the window to keep your bathroom sharp and visually pleasing. I’m loving everything from Emily A. Clark right now, and this bath with a vase of bright pink flowers is no exception. The blooms perfectly complement the light green shower curtains and striped rug!

Display Votives

Even if you’re not going to use them, colorful candles can instantly brighten up your bathroom. Group candles of varied heights, and lay them out on your countertop to add a vibrant look to your bath. You can also use scented candles to give your bathroom a nice smell. Of course, it wouldn’t hurt to light up some of these candles when you’re having a relaxing bath.

Replenish Your Stores

Nothing beats a well-stocked bathroom. Simple additions, such as fresh supplies, revive your personal space, so always keep a handful of fresh hand towels and toilet paper ready. Switching out your soap dispensers and organizing your toiletries can also do wonders for your bathroom!
